(More customer reviews)Beautiful dishes...great shape...BUT they break incredibly easily. These are NOT microwave safe, regardless of what it says. The black areas of the plates, mugs heat up incredibly hot (we've had several people burned warming up items on these) Even dishwasher use has caused deep cracks in the plates...maybe the glaze isn't watertight. (?) The shape is great, BUT they chip and crack so easily just with moderate use. I have service for 12, and its the same thing with all of the sets. Very breakable. Okay if you want to hand wash and use occasional. Definitely Not for everyday use.

(More customer reviews)Second time around - going to quit and get a refund. No more dishes from Amazon. Amazon should consider suspending this vendor as the dishes were improperly packaged and labeled which led to dish breakage. Also no proof or materials enclosed that show if the plates are microwave or dishwasher safe or contain no lead.
Here is my note to Amazon customer service from the first try:
The Amazon box had a slit from top to bottom on one of its corners. It also wasn't properly labeled "i.e. glass, caution, or breakables" to warn the shipper of its contents.
Once I opened the main Amazon box, there were two cardboard boxes that were unlabeled by the manufacturer. On the product description it stated that the china was to come packaged in the manufacturer's original packaging - it wasn't. Both boxes looked like they had been opened previously.
The first box was packaged correctly and had cardboard separators with paper between each item.
The second box was a different story. I knew it was a bad sign when I lifted the box out and I heard a rattle. When I opened it the dishes were laid in there haphazardly with the cardboard separators all jumbled on the bottom so I know someone had already opened it and perhaps it was a return. I was surprised that only three saucers were broken considering the state of the packaging.
Further, I was disconcerted because I ordered the product because it was Churchill and made in England, as stated in the product description. It is misrepresented because the items I received said they were Wessex and made in Malaysia. The outside of the plain cardboard box stated it was made in Columbia! WHAT THE HECK????
I have been a loyal Amazon customer over the years and have been quite happy with my Amazon and Amazon marketplace purchases. This was my first disappointment. I will stick with non-breakables from now on.

(More customer reviews)I ordered this item for my mother as she needed some replacement plates and had found that the recent issues were made in China and were of very LOW QUALITY. I set out on a hunt to find some specifically Made in England. Low and behold I saw this here on good old reliable Amazon. The order was placed, the itmes shiped and were delivered fairly quickly. The excitement of receiving these made the wait seem longer than it actually was. Upon opening the box the huge disappointment was right there on the plates ...... Low quality and Made in China.
A call to the company was made. They said it was Amazon's problem and not theirs. They had no say so in how the items were advertised and they weren't responsible for the advertisement that was incorrect. They did offer a refund upon return of the plates and so it was done. Now if we can just get that credit to our card we'd be all set.
This company will not get my business in the future and Amazon has been notified of the listing being incorrect though nothing has been done, yet.

For a reliable source of pieces made in England (and China as well, if you're interested), buy from Replacements, Ltd. in North Carolina (an Amazon seller). For more information, go directly to [...] and search on Johnson Brothers Regency, then call them for clarification if needed. They're a great company with great customer service and very helpful; you won't be disappointed. And if you are, they'll make it right. Although I did not buy my few Johnson Bros. Regency pieces from them, I have purchased other china there and found the experience to be 100% first rate. Would not hesitate to use them again.

I called the people who sent the plates and they basically just told me I was out of luck and that Amazon was advertising in a false way. I wanted these for the holidays, and so was stuck not having the dishes I needed for Christmas. I was more than disappointed and felt this was truly false advertising. Even to this day the ad STILL says Friendly Village Dinner Plate 9Set of 4)!!!! It is STILL false advertising. I just wish someone would make this right...

Those salad plates are 6-Inches in diameter. So one could use these slighter larger plates as dessert plates, small luncheon plates, or as salad plates mixed-and-matched with a white porcelain dinner pattern. Another use of Willow Blue (or the antique pattern of Blue Willow) is in platehangers as pretty wall decorations or in plateholders in a china or curio cabinet. In any case, this set would make a lovely addition to one's collection.

The pattern looks good but even though these dishes say England on the bottom, a sticker on each item says "Made in China." The marking on the bottom of the dishes just means that it is an English company.

I actually was expecting a stoneware or earthenware product. But it is just the opposite. I was somewhat hesitant to purchase the set because it is described as pink and I really did not want pink. The color is more of what I would call a county red. I would recommend this set. It really is beautiful.
