(More customer reviews)My Labrador cannot keep a collar for more than a day. Why? Because my precious little Pit Bull always chews every collar he has off of his neck. She waits until he falls asleep and then begins gnawing. I cannot tell you how many collars we've gone through. It is mandatory for all dogs to wear their rabies/license tags at all times where we live. This collar was finally our solution. I have been looking for an affordable spiked collar for years but they are just so darn expensive. When I saw this collar listed for less than 1/4 of the price that I've seen everywhere else, I snatched it up! It is a Godsend! As soon as I put it on him, my Pit Bull trotted over to investigate, she grabbed the collar and did an experimental tug, barked at my Lab a few times, and walked away. I think this collar may just be the trick to deterring her from eating his collars. I have no idea why its the Labrador she targets for collar chewing. They are best friends of course but she never bothers with the collar of my other dog or the cats for that matter! In any case, the collar is made of thick leather, there is no thread that I can see but it is held together at important stress points by sturdy rivets. The D-ring and fastener are all of thick metal so I'm sure it will hold up to leash pulling (though my dog's don't tend to pull on the leash so I have no way of verifying that fact.) The spiked area is pretty generous, covering over half of his neck but I will definitely be asking my husband to put in a few more spikes and studs since my chubby lab has his collar on the last hole leaving a larger area without spikes. I think this collar is a great alternative to nylon for people with destructive dogs. I was praying that I wouldn't have to resort to a choker (something that my pit bull couldn't EASILY chew through... she'll eat anything!). This collar filled every expectation I had and could hope for. Hurray for Chewy, my wonderful Labrador who now has a collar!
